Privacy Policy for VeriFeed
Last updated: 22 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how VeriFeed ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use it. VeriFeed is an AI fact-checking app for social-media posts: you share a post (TikTok, Instagram, X, LinkedIn), paste a link, or type a question, and the App extracts the claim, checks it via web search, and shows you a truth score, sources, and a summary.
We have built VeriFeed to be privacy-friendly by design: there are no user accounts, no login, and no personal database. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other directly identifying information to use the core features.
1. Data Controller
The controller responsible for data processing in connection with this App is:
Email: eljop.imba@gmail.com
For any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at the email address above.
2. What Data We Process
2.1 Content you submit for fact-checking
When you fact-check something, the App sends the following to our processing backend (see Section 3):
The URL or text you provide (a social-media link, a pasted link, or a typed question), and
For supported platforms, the publicly available content of that post (e.g. caption, transcript) retrieved on your behalf.
This content is processed only to perform the fact-check you requested. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not link it to your identity (because we do not know your identity).
2.2 Onboarding questionnaire
During onboarding the App may ask you a few preference questions. Your answers are stored only locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.
2.3 Local app data
The following is stored locally on your device (via system storage / SharedPreferences) and never leaves your device:
Whether you have completed onboarding,
Your theme preference,
A local usage counter (number of fact-checks in the current period) used to enforce usage limits.
2.4 Purchase and subscription data
In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by RevenueCat together with Apple App Store / Google Play. To manage your subscription, RevenueCat processes a randomly generated, anonymous app user ID and purchase/ transaction data (such as which product was purchased, purchase and renewal dates, and entitlement status). We do not receive your full payment details (card number, etc.) — those are handled solely by Apple or Google.
2.5 Technical data
Our backend may process standard technical request data (such as IP address) transiently to deliver the service and protect against abuse. We do not use this to identify you and do not maintain user-level analytics profiles.
We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data, and the App is not directed at children (see Section 9).
3. Third-Party Service Providers (Processors)
To deliver fact-checks, the content you submit is processed through the following third-party services. Requests are routed through our own secure backend proxy so that API keys are never exposed in the App.

These providers act as processors / independent controllers under their own privacy policies. Please review their policies for details:
ScrapeCreators: https://scrapecreators.com (see their privacy terms)
Perplexity: https://www.perplexity.ai/hub/legal/privacy-policy
RevenueCat: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Because some of these providers are based in the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the USA. Such transfers are based on appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on:
Performance of a contract / your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): processing the content you submit in order to perform the fact-check you asked for, and managing your subscription.
Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): ensuring the security and stability of the service and preventing abuse (e.g. transient technical data, usage limits).
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): where required, for any optional processing; you may withdraw consent at any time.
5. Data Retention
Fact-check content is processed transiently to produce your result and is not stored by us in a user-identifiable database. Third-party processors may retain request data according to their own retention policies.
Local data (onboarding status, preferences, usage counter) remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the App.
Purchase data is retained by RevenueCat and the app stores as required for subscription management, accounting, and legal obligations.
6. How We Share Data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the processors listed in Section 3, strictly to operate the App, and where required to comply with the law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have the right to:
access the personal data we hold about you,
request correction or deletion,
restrict or object to processing,
data portability,
withdraw consent at any time, and
lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because the App does not maintain user accounts, much of your data is either stored only on your device (you can delete it by clearing app data or uninstalling) or held by the third parties above. To exercise any right, contact us at eljop.imba@gmail.com, and we will assist you, including by directing you to the relevant processor where applicable.
For subscription data, you can also manage your subscription directly in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit (e.g. HTTPS encryption). API keys for our providers are stored only on our secure backend and are never embedded in the App. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
VeriFeed is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can address it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or our store listings where appropriate. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
