Terms of Use

Last updated: 26 October 2026

1. Scope

These terms apply to the mobile app “Hoot: Imposter Party Game” (“Hoot”, “the app”), provided by Elias Fiedler (eFeat Digital), Germany, email efeatdigital@gmail.com (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you downloaded Hoot from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where it conflicts with these terms, Apple’s agreement takes precedence for iOS.

2. The app

Hoot is a pass-and-play party game for groups playing together on one device. The basic game is free. Some content and features (all categories, all Odd Question pairs and unlimited AI categories) require the Hoot Pass.

3. Hoot Pass subscriptions

  • The Hoot Pass is offered as an auto-renewing subscription, weekly or yearly. The current price is shown in the app and in the store before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your Google Play or Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
  • The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions) or in your Apple ID settings (Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • If a free trial is offered, any unused part of the trial ends when you buy a subscription.
  • Purchases are processed by Google or Apple. Refunds follow the store’s rules; please contact Google or Apple directly. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
  • Use “Restore purchases” in the app to unlock the Hoot Pass again on a new device using the same store account.

4. AI categories

The AI case generator creates words and hints with an AI model based on the topic you enter. Results are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, unsuitable or offensive in individual cases. Please check them before playing, especially with children. You can deselect individual words and report content using the “Report” button.

You must not enter topics that are unlawful, that violate the rights of others, or that contain personal information about yourself or other people. We may limit the AI feature (for example the number of requests) to prevent misuse and to keep the service running.

5. Your content

Player names, custom categories and saved AI categories are stored only on your device. You are responsible for what you enter. We have no access to this content and cannot restore it if you delete the app or lose your device.

6. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Hoot for private, non-commercial purposes. The app, its mascot “Inspector Hoot”, design, word lists, sounds and texts are protected by copyright. You may not copy, modify, decompile or redistribute the app except where the law allows it.

7. Availability

The game works offline. Purchases and AI categories require an internet connection and third-party services, so they may occasionally be unavailable. We may update, change or remove content and features if there is a valid reason, such as legal requirements, security or further development of the app, taking your interests into account.

8. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable for breaches of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes proper use of the app possible and on which you may regularly rely), limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this type of contract. Otherwise, liability is excluded.

Hoot is a game. Please play responsibly and respectfully, and don’t use it to embarrass or harass anyone.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the app or the law changes. The current version is always available on this page. Changes do not affect subscription periods that have already been paid.

10. Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live. The EU Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

Nutzungsbedingungen

Stand: 26. Oktober 2026

1. Geltungsbereich
